Pompano Beach Vacation

I got to take my new Nikon D3200 to Florida for our big family vacation last week and LOVED it. I’m still figuring it out, of course, and still have no idea what I’m doing, but it is awesome to have something that can take better pictures than my iPhone.

This trip was a bunch of firsts all wrapped up in one. It was the first extended family vacation for us. It was our first time staying through Wyndham’s vacation ownership. It was basically Maggie’s first everything: airplane ride, pool swim, beach trip, ocean view, airboat ride, zoo trip, weather over 50 degrees! We had a bunch of fun, loved our location, and explored almost everyday, in true Bear and Liz nature.

Places we visited:

Las Olas, FT. Lauderdale – Water taxi along the Intracoastal Waterway to see the homes and yachts of the rich and famous

Juno Beach – Great surfing spot and beautiful beach

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea – Cute, well maintained community with shops and restaurants

Sawgrass Recreation Park – Airboat tour of the Everglades and small zoo of gators, turtles, lizards, and more.

Things I’m glad I brought:

Sunglasses

Sunscreen and aloe vera (YES!)

Adan & Anais muslin blanket

Beach towels (the hotel only provided some for their pool)

Disposable diapers (as much as I would’ve loved to use cloth, it was just easier for everyone)

Solly Wrap. Our girl basically lived in this thing when we realized the stroller was basically useless on the beach.

Activity gym for Maggie

Travel oil diffuser

Things I wish I had brought:

Vibrating chair for Maggie (perfect for the beach!)

Ear protection like these for the airboat ride for Maggie

Spices for cooking (we had a full kitchen and ended up buying spice we have at home to cook there)

My waterproof picnic blanket

We enjoyed our stay in Pompano Beach, FL through Wyndham and had lots of fun exploring the area. It was great to get out of the dreary Michigan landscape and feel the warmth again! Thanks to my generous in-laws who let us crash their vacation!
